Block files compile responses to potential arguments that your opponents may be reading. Preparing these files allows you quickly and substantively answer arguments from the other side.

Importance

The importance of block files comes mostly when forming rebuttal responses. Block files also help with getting more familiar with arguments on the topic to create analytical responses in round.

Method

Teams will have two block files:

  1. “A2 Pro” means “Answer To Pro”
  2. “A2 Con” means “Answer To Con”

Use A2 Pro when you are the con team (responding to pro) and use A2 Con when you are the pro team (responding to con)

When creating a block file, create a table of contents on your doc for accessibility purposes. After that, create headers of potential arguments to find responses to and number your responses under those headers.
